The bed of death is sweet
As white ashes kissed by daylight’s dew
The fire yawning
Its eyes whistling
The curtains will not stand
Bright tactics
For a sleepy flower

~ Joe LiTrenta

The latest release on Subterranean Tide comes in the form of abstract ambient fragments; a story told in two parts. Bengalfuel's newest album divides its time between swirling, shimmering textures--the ceaseless tides at water's edge--and uptempo, insistent rhythms. Despite their thick, thrumming atmospheric winds and gritty low drones, the song arrangements are surprisingly sparse, open, muted.

Wave after wave of gray noise, dark and foreboding, washes out choirs and slow bells twisting in the arid breeze. A few tracks mix distant, syrupy trip-hop percussion, drenched in reverb, with languorous shifting metallic swells. As the heat of the day fades into sunset, stars gradually appear across the darkening sky, gliding between heavy clouds on a moonless night.

Musicians are constantly evolving and they are continually giving us the gift of music. This netlabel serves as a platform to bring together different sound artists and to briefly experience the poetry of sound within ourselves. ... more
